What we love - Bergdorf's balloon art windows

Bergdorf’s ramps up the charm with their gorgeously colorful windows featuring the work of balloon artist, Jason Hackenwerth

I first came across Jason’s work in 2006 when he collaborated with Formavision on the ‘Dream of a Fisherman’s wife’ installation for the Diesel Denim gallery. Guests navigated a gallery literally teeming with fantastical sea creatures (you were practically climbing over and under them), with the wide eyed wonder usually reserved for kids.

While Bergdorf’s won’t let you get all up in their balloon art, their windows strike the same balance of fantasy and beauty. After all, isn’t that what a good shopping trip should be about?

Formavision collaborates with Brian Atwood and The Jones Group

“Upper East Side poshness, mixed with downtown cool, along with Parisian sophistication” That’s how Brian Atwood describes his new line ‘B Brian Atwood’ which he launched in partnership with The Jones Group.

A shoe that works this hard for a girl clearly needed a pretty special showroom and Jones turned to Sebastien Agneessens of Formavision to bring his high-concept eye to the space. Taking his inspiration from exotic skins, Sebastien created a sculpture that resembles the tail of an alligator undulating through the showroom – it’s mirrored scales reflecting the hand drawn murals on the wall and displaying the shoes in a kaleidoscopic fashion.   The effect is quite stunning with the sculpture and shoes appearing to be jewels in a box.

The new line will be available to us mere mortals for the much less gasp-worthy price point of $200-600 and can be found at Saks, Nordstrom, Barney’s Co-op and shopbop.com starting mid-August.

I already have a pair on my summer wish-list!
